10/27/01 We are getting ready for BattleBots Season 4.

Our team is working hard to bring back all four of our robots (Minion, Dreadnought, OverKill, and Toe-Crusher) and we are also bringing two additional robots, Knee-Breaker and TriDent. Our primary sponsor, Magic: The Gathering has made this possible. Thanks guys!

The new rules allow an additional 15 pounds for the super-heavyweight class and we are taking full advantage of the additional weight. First up is #1 ranked Minion. This season Brian Roe has beefed up the weapon support and we are using motors donated to us by evparts.com. We can rebuild Minion, make him faster, stronger...

Our other super-heavyweight, Dreadnought, has had some minor changes done. We have put on more armor and made the robot a little bit faster. Dreadnought is completely sponsored by Magic: The Gathering. We had a chance to test this robot against Chin-Killa last season and we are looking forward to watching it this season.

Our heavyweight, OverKill, is virtually unchanged. OverKill won 4 out of 5 fights during Season 3 and made it to the "Top 4" before being defeated by Biohazard. OverKill is now ranked 8 after only three seasons!! We couldn't be happier.

Toe-Crusher has gone through a slight change for Season 4. We have wrapped titanium plates around its body, but otherwise everything else is the same. I'm still using a big spike and two great wheelchair motors from National Power Chair.

I have decided to bring Knee-Breaker back into action. Knee-Breaker first competed pre-Comedy Central at BattleBots Long Beach 1999. It took the middleweight division second place, right behind "Mr. Smashy". I have redesigned this two-wheeled spinner to be a little tougher and a little more versatile. I have high hopes for Knee-Breaker, but I have to remind myself that this will be its first competition back from retirement. We will have to wait and see how it performs against all these new robots.

Last on the list is a brand new BattleBot designed by Luke Khanlian! His robot, TriDent, is a middleweight and easily the fastest robot in our family. We have yet to see this robot in combat, but we think its speed will make it fun to watch.

10/11/01 BattleBots Tickets are on sale!

10/09/01 Toe-Crusher took 3rd place at BotBash!

This past weekend was the BotBash competition. I took my improved Toe-Crusher to the competition.

Toe-Crusher's first fight was against Mad Cow Disease. MCD was a well built robot, but because it weighed in at 34 lbs Toe-Crusher had a huge advantage and won the match.

Toe-Crusher's second fight was against Wedge of Doom. After a rough start, Toe-Crusher got a good hit in and KO'ed WofD to advance to the next fight.

And the next fight was against number one ranked Ziggo. After some intial hits, Ziggo's spinner was disabled and Toe-Crusher's front plate was ripped off. This fight went the distance and Toe-Crusher won by a judges decision.

The next fight was against Raptor. Raptor slammed Toe-Crusher into the corner a couple times. One of those slams broke my gearbox and it wasn't a hard decision by the judges to award Raptor the win.

After all the damage, Toe-Crusher was in no shape to continue the competition and finished third. Yeah!

I want to thank Bob Pitzer for putting on the event and I want to thank Mike and Frank Ballard for being part of my pit crew at Bot Bash. Thanks guys!

10/05/01 I'm off to BotBash!.

This weekend is the BotBash competition. I'm taking my new and improved Toe-Crusher to compete. This is the biggest 'Bash yet and should be a lot of fun.
